Macro Monday - Talents

Lately I have been thinking about talents. Learning to play the piano has been something I had wanted to do for years, so last January I got this old used 1947 piano. I have practiced regularly throughout this past year. When I began I couldn’t read any notes on the sheet music and couldn’t tell you where any keys were on the keyboard. Well it may take many more years before you see me playing in a concert, but overall I am pretty proud of what I have accomplished thus far. It just goes to show if you want to learn something, get out and do it. Our talents are there to be developed and if we don’t take the opportunity to learn we will never know the great things we can accomplish in life.

Great things are accomplished by talented people who believe they will accomplish them.

Forever Friends

So the other day I was watching the children of a wonderful friend of mine. Wow!!! It seems like yesterday I was 4 years old walking barefoot home from her house and stepped on a bee for the first time. I can't believe we both have kids now. They are adorable. I love this age because they never sit still for long and you only have about 5 minutes to capture any photos before they loose their interest and hide from the camera.

I think I am a big fan of this dark, low key look, especially in black and white.
I find some of my favorite photos are made this way.

Ready...Set... And Off I Go!

Get this thing out of my hair!!!!

Awww...much better now!

I love her look....she had just finished kissing the dog on the nose.

Macro Monday...Rainbow!

Everytime I see the rainbows that appear in the puddle of oil on the ground I am
reminded of a friend of mine who loves rainbows. Last week in a grocery store parking lot,
I couldn't pass up this one...the colors were beautiful... if you could say that about polution.

Not so macro photo of the bigger picture...thought I would add it in just for fun.

Happy Birthday!
I love the joy that radiates from a child's little smile on their birthday.

The L. Family

What a cute bunch of kids!

Our children teach us what life is all about.

Macro Monday - Flowers!

It's a New Year full of exciting adventures ahead of us. I am excited to continue taking pictures and hopefully become a better photographer. I love taking photos of weird random stuff, but it seems like lately I have stopped doing it as often as I would like to...

...So after reading a book on macro photography I came up with the idea that I am going to post a macro monday photo each week. If you read the definition of Macro Photography you will find some terms gets technical with a 1:1 ratio or larger, while others use the term loosely to say it's close up photography. Well I don't have any fancy equipment, so I will probably post a little of both here. I'd like to think of Macro Photography as exploring the world around us by focusing on the details we sometimes don't see in life.

Here is my first post, pictures of flowers I took last summer. (Don't worry all the posts will not be of flowers or bugs...but there will be a couple every now and then.)
