Not a Wildlife Photographer

Besides needing a massive zoom, I am simply not patient enough to sit for hours on end waiting for a cool action shot with wild animals. Nor do I enjoy waking up early in the morning to head out to catch the animals before they bed down for the day to escape the summer heat to be a good wildlife photographer. But when the opportunity is given I won't hesitate to grab the camera and snap away at nature's beauties. This weekend as we pulled in to camp with my family we saw two owls fly away from a nearby tree. Assuming their nest was nearby the next day we took a short walk to see if they were around. Sure enough they were both there and seemed as interested in us as we were in them. I am amazed at how close they let us get before flying away. Wildlife is always fun to shoot!

"There's something about her"

I love the way this photo reminds me of Ariel in the Little Mermaid. There is something about her gorgeous red hair, mixed with the beauty of the water, and her flowing gown.

Me and my Baby! I love catching real life moments. Over the 4th we went camping at some land my grandma owns and asked my sister to take my camera and shoot a couple photos of my baby and I on a huge net hanging above the river. It's easy to be left out of photos when you're always the one behind the lens. Here is one of my all time favorite of the weekend. You can't help but feel his contagious laughter. Celebrating our Freedom

We've had a busy week of summer fun and I'm finally getting around to posting our night of fireworks. This year my family and I decided to get out of the city and take a short hike along the Bonneville Shoreline trail. It was beautiful to watch the fireworks from above the action. The view of the city was spectacular. And it was fun watching all the fireworks being set off around town.

I get a little bored taking the same familiar photos of fireworks and decided to mess with my camera with some motion shots by panning the camera and wiggling it. A little different but fun to try.

The Milky Way....a night of stars!

Waiting for the Sun to go down and the stars to come out.

I love trying something new. Monday night a few members of the Photo Club and I headed up to the wind caves to shoot the stars. We couldn't have asked for a better night. This is my first attempt to shoot the milky way. I think I'll have to try it again next month...it's amazing what lies in our own backyard.
